There are a number of different reasons why expectant parents choose adoption for their unplanned pregnancy. Some of those reasons include peer pressure, social pressures, financial issues, emotional issues and even lack of support. While some of those issues can be overcome with community and familial support, that isn't always an option. Each and every adoption plan is made for different reasons and those reasons can be temporary or not, depending on the situation.

We've asked several birth parents to share their stories, so that you can read and gain a better understanding of how those who have already placed a child or children for adoption came to that decision and how that decision impacts them now.

It's important to remember that the decision to place your child for adoption is one you'll make and remake over and over throughout your pregnancy. While you may feel solid in your reasons and decisions to place your child for adoption, you may be overwhelmed by the emotional impacts that both child birth and seeing your child for the first time will have on you. Know that these feelings are absolutely normal and remaking your decision after you've given birth is not only expected by most adoption professionals, it is encouraged.
