What not to eat is just as important as what not to eat. The obvious aviodences are alcohol, smoking, and illegal drugs; however, some foods and over the counter drugs should also be avoided.

Perscription drugs and store bought drugs (diet pills, etc) should be brought up with your doctor. Just an example, some diet pills have a caffine and effedrine combination that has been proven deadly in some cases. Also, not all prenatal medicines are for everyone, again consolt a doctor. And be sure to stay away from experimental medicines, or "research" medicines.

Avoid over processed foods, which are of the packaged, preserved, meal shake, and "tv dinner" catagory. Most digestive enzimes are removed in the process of making these foods. Be sure to eat the freshest foods you can. Processed foods aren’t dangerous; however, the best nutrition is what you need for your health and the health of your baby. The best vitamines come from real fruits and vegitables, rather than pills in a bottle.

These foods may contain bacteria that can harm your baby. Don’t eat even a little bit, since it could be dangerous to your baby’s health: Raw seafood, Unpasteurized milk, and Soft cheeses.

Some Steer Clear Missunderstandings:

Low fat diets are good, but make sure only to avoid saturated fats, unsaturated fats are good and can be found in fish and nuts. Your body needs these "good" fats to function properly.

Low Carb diets are good for a temporary wieght loss program; however, like athletes, pregnant women need proper nutrition to function, which includes several servings of whole grain complex carbohydrates. Some examples are: wheat bread, brown rice, whole grain pasta, wheat bagels, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and whole grain cereals.
