Always get your doctor’s permission before starting an exercise program, since there are some medical conditions that prohibit exercise during pregnancy:

  • Pregnancy-induced hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Pre-term rupture of membranes
  • Pre-term labor during a prior or current pregnancy
  • Incompetent cervix
  • Intrauterine growth retardation
  • Active disease of the thyroid, heart, lung, vascular system, or metabolic system (such as diabetes)
  • Bleeding
  • Cramping
  • Faintness
  • Dizziness
  • Severe joint pain
