Many women worry about how they will lose the weight they gain during pregnancy. It’s a relief to find out that most of the weight gain will be reduced after the birth by:

  • 6 - 8 pounds for the baby
  • 8 - 12 pounds for amniotic fluid, placenta, extra body fluids and blood
  • 4 - 6 pounds for the increased size of the uterus and breasts

If you stay within the recommended weight gain during your pregnancy, you can be back to your pre-pregnancy weight within a few months after you give birth with a sensible diet and moderate exercise.
