Illegal drugs can cause a multitude of problems for your unborn child. Crack/cocaine reduces the levels of nutrients and oxygen to the fetus and can cause your child to have a reduced fetal head circumference, which indicates possible widespread brain damage. Children exposed to crack/cocaine before birth will usually have mental and behavioral problems. This street drug can also cause a higher rate of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), also known as Crib Death.

Taking addictive drugs can result in a pregnant mother who does not take care of herself or her unborn child. If you are using any addictive street drug, get help now. Don’t kid yourself by thinking you aren’t addicted or that the effects on your baby won’t be that bad. If you are using heroin, crack/cocaine or any other addictive drug, you are addicted. And any addictive substance you are taking throughout your pregnancy will cause your child to be born addicted. Your baby will then have to go through withdrawal from the drug after birth and will have to live with the irreparable damage the drug has caused.
